Monterey Bay Aquarium

Last month, we got the chance to go on our very first field trip as a homeschooling family. We went to Monterey Bay Aquarium's Homeschool Day. I had to reserve the day back in September, so Aubrey has been counting down the days since, we got our confirmation email. Only 56 days multiple times a day.

The day finally came and wouldn't you know it, Austin woke up not feeling very well. He fell asleep about 30 minutes into our drive. And took a good 1 hour nap.

We finally made it!!

We watched the Kelp feeding, which I thought was pretty neat, Aubrey however didn't want to sit still, she was eager to explore the rest of the aquarium.

The Jellyfish was probably my favorite. They are just amazing. So pretty.

We saw a giant sea turtle.

The penguin exhibit was closed the day that were we there. That's what Allyson was most looking forward to, but sitting in a penguin egg made up for it.

The tidal wave tunnel was a hit with the kids.

And of course getting to touch starfish, sea cucumbers and kelp was also a hit!

The Sting Rays pond was so much fun. This darker one would stay in the center of the water for a bit and then it would make it's way around the pool, it's like he was trained to do that. Pretty fun. There was also a lighter sting ray {You can see it in the top left of this picture} It hid pretty well in the sand, and we were all so busy looking at the darker one, we didn't even notice this one was right underneath us. Aubrey reached in and touched it and it swam away.

We had such a great time and we can't wait to go back again.
