Christmas 2014 Recap

I think I might be fully recovered from last week, maybe. What a crazy busy, wonderful time we had. I am really loving having kids and enjoying Christmas through their eyes. The excitement and joy is worth all that stress.

So Christmas Eve, the kids opened up their pajamas after dinner. Aubrey was confused when the little doll nightgown fell our of her package and then when she realized it was for her doll, the screams of excitement began!

Aubrey was just so much fun Christmas morning. Everything she opened was the best and just want she always wanted. Her excitement carried over as others opened their gifts too.

While Allyson was opening up her gifts, we would ask her what it is? She was say "I can't tell you!"

Austin scored him self some awesome Lego Duplo cars. He had to take all of the paper off before he could even think to look at what his gift was.

My favorite picture of him!!!

This was Aubrey's big gift this year. She had no clue Santa would bring her Isabelle. I have a video on my phone that I need to upload because these pictures don't even do justice capturing the excitement.

Isabelle hasn't left her arms since Christmas morning.

52/52

Wow, the end is here. I can't believe it, the last Saturday of December and post number 52 is published. What a year it's been, and I'm glad I've been able to capture little glimpses from each week.

This week we decorated sugar cookies with our cousins! Boy, oh boy did the kids have some fun eating decorating.

Santa enjoyed every sugary bite.

2014, what a year you have been! I am so very blessed to stay at home with the kids and live this life I'm living, even with the ups and downs. I'm so thankful I caught little snapshots of our life each week.

I'm looking forward to every thing that 2015 will bring me and our family.

"Look Mom, I'm you! I'm wearing your fancy shoes and my hair is down!"

Allyson51
This little girl is due for a trim of her bangs and hair but she hasn't been too cooperative when it's come to brushing, I'm scared to take her anywhere.

Austin51
Austin and Allyson have this friendship and bond that really surprises me every time I see it. They love each other so much. Stuff they do to each other, that they would get mad at Aubrey for doing, they giggle when the other does it. Allyson pushed him away and said "come chase me!", and with the biggest smile on his face he was off to chase her!

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Last month, we got the chance to go on our very first field trip as a homeschooling family. We went to Monterey Bay Aquarium's Homeschool Day. I had to reserve the day back in September, so Aubrey has been counting down the days since, we got our confirmation email. Only 56 days multiple times a day.

The day finally came and wouldn't you know it, Austin woke up not feeling very well. He fell asleep about 30 minutes into our drive. And took a good 1 hour nap.

We finally made it!!

We watched the Kelp feeding, which I thought was pretty neat, Aubrey however didn't want to sit still, she was eager to explore the rest of the aquarium.

The Jellyfish was probably my favorite. They are just amazing. So pretty.

We saw a giant sea turtle.

The penguin exhibit was closed the day that were we there. That's what Allyson was most looking forward to, but sitting in a penguin egg made up for it.

The tidal wave tunnel was a hit with the kids.

And of course getting to touch starfish, sea cucumbers and kelp was also a hit!

The Sting Rays pond was so much fun. This darker one would stay in the center of the water for a bit and then it would make it's way around the pool, it's like he was trained to do that. Pretty fun. There was also a lighter sting ray {You can see it in the top left of this picture} It hid pretty well in the sand, and we were all so busy looking at the darker one, we didn't even notice this one was right underneath us. Aubrey reached in and touched it and it swam away.

We had such a great time and we can't wait to go back again.

50/52

50 out of 52, say what???

This year is really wrapping up quickly. I can't even believe it. I have found myself scrambling for a picture. I keep thinking only x more to go, and now that we are here, so close to the end, and I'm looking back at pictures from the beginning of the year, and oh my goodness how they have changed. If it wasn't for keeping up with this photo challenge, I wouldn't have pulled out my camera the last few weeks and I wouldn't have these pictures of the kids. Or they would be lost on my computer.

So am I going to do this again next year? Heck yes! Heck yes. I'm thinking about doing a weekly picture of the all the kids in the same frame.  I still have a few weeks to think about but that's where I'm leaning.

On to this week's pictures.

We declared today, Frozen Friday! We watched my niece and nephew, so while the littlest guy took his nap, we laid on the playroom floor with blankets, enjoyed the rain and watched everyone's favorite movie, Frozen.

Austin really likes the Frozen Heart song at the beginning of the movie and has to bang on the floor along with the ice men.

Hello, Friday!

Christmas is less than 2 weeks away, I can't even believe it! I'm 2/3 finished with my Christmas shopping but Conrad and I are hoping to finish that up this weekend.

{one}
On Wednesday, Aubrey and I went to see The Nutcracker. We had so much fun just the two of us. After the show we went and had lunch together, Panda Express, Aubrey's choice.

{two}

We headed out into stormageddon yesterday. I was expecting some serious rain when I woke up but it was the wind. Holy cow! We finally got some rain after lunch and it's been raining ever since. I'm totally not complaining, I've been waiting for this weather.

{three}

At the beginning of December our elf, Ellie made her appearance. It has been so fun to watch all three kids so excited to find her each morning. Every morning Austin will say to me, "Mom, come see Ellie. Look Mom, look! She's so funny!" Oh, the laughter!

{four}

One week from today is Christmas break, WAHOO!!! Aubrey and I will have both survived our first semester homeschooling.

{five}

I am loving getting all these Christmas cards in the mail. I love seeing how everyone's family has changed over the year. We love reading the updates. We love good ol' Christmas cards, especially the glittery ones! Which reminds me, I still haven't done our card. Totally slacker. I'm hoping to get around to it this weekend. That's not too late right? Choosing a card and a picture is so hard, so many choices. Ugh!

Do you have plans for the weekend? Anyone doing some Christmas shopping??
Happy Friday friends!

We enjoyed some good old fashion puddle jumping. I took just a few quick pictures, ditched the camera and headed out on our adventure.

The picture of Austin is one of my new favorites. His tilted head. his smile while trying to hold up his umbrella. Just makes my heart swell up.
