Mom-iform

You all know what I'm talking about.

The messy bun, yesterday's makeup face, with a hopefully clean top and your stretched out, comfy yoga pants.

Mom-iform

Momiform

You've seen me at morning drop off sportin' my yoga pants and old ragged shirt. Ok, you've probably seen me running errands in them too and since we are being honest, I wear them to afternoon pick up too. No matter how hard I try to get away from the yoga pants and old t-shirt, they crawl back into my life. My normal mom-iform works. I can do anything in it. Chase around the kids, clean, and basically anything inside the house, even exercise but that's a rare one.

Then,  there are those days that I do break out and get dress and slap on some makeup, people are asking what's different or throwing out compliments. When I actually take the time to fix my hair on top of all that other jazz, it's just insane. And how do I answer? Uh, I actually got dressed? No, seriously, no hair cut, my hair is just brushed and straight.

I am trying to break free from that and make actually getting dressed my new mom-iform. Comfort is still a must for me. I don't want to look like I just rolled out of bed at 2:00 pm {although, I would love to actually roll out of bed at 2:00!}  I want to be able to do all of my normal things in my new uniform. I don't want to break the bank doing so either. That was my excuse for a long time too. Enter JC Penny's, that place is amazing, y'all!

This is one of my new favorite comfy outfits.

I spent $6 on the shirt and $10 on the shorts, a steal I know!

Ladies, I haven't worn shorts in, I don't even know how long. I have stepped out of my comfort zone and embracing these. I'm so glad I did. These are perfect. They are longer, so I'm not too afraid to have to bend down and get a screaming kid off of the floor and have my buns hanging out.

Also, flats are my new favorite! I scooped up these pair at Target on a whim and I just love them. This is just one of my new pieces in my new uniform.

What does your mom-iform look like?

  1. Haha, I LOVE this post. I love the honesty here. Usually my Mom-iform is wearing that mornings workout clothes ALL day, HA! Sad but true. However, in the summer (if I can make it to the shower) I really enjoy wearing a simple sundress. If we are going to be leaving the house that is ;)!

  2. Yoga pants are so comfy that they're hard to resist, but we have too! :-) . I'm rocking a bun right now though! http://chatonsworld.blogspot.com/2011/12/i-am-too-sexy-for-this-life.html

  3. I never wear makeup, so when I do, people usually comment. And I miss having hair I can pull up. It's been years. But, admittedly, that is the reason I keep it short. When its long, I NEVER do it. My mom-iform is typically jeans and a tshirt. I have been working on buying tshirts that look cute and are comfortable, so I feel more put together, yet still am able to live life...and be touched by sticky hands without the fear of ruining an expensive, dry clean only shirt! And go you trying out shorts! I bought some this year as well. We can rock them together.

  4. This is awesome.

I may be wearing yoga pants right now. Yeppers. Also, a mission trip tshirt from 2002. Awesome.

I love the flats you got! They're super cute!

  5. Haha! I love this post. Like Our Pretty Little Girls my Mom-Iform tends to be gross, sweaty workout clothes that I wear all day long.
I agree too that when I do break away from the mom-iform I really need to stay comfortable. Today I wore a less comfortable outfit and it looked cute but I felt restricted all day. It's too tough to clean, cook, and chase littles uncomfortable clothes. Those shorts you found look perfect! It's so tough to find long enough shorts. And what a great steal. I'm going to have to poke into JC Penny next time I'm at the mall.
