Wrapping up First Grade

I can't believe the school year is over. First grade is in the books!

This year went by much faster than kindergarten. I blinked and it was Christmas break, blinked again and we were are heading to Aubrey's Open House and getting a ton of her work to take home and the school year has came to an end. That saying keeps coming back to me, "the days are long but the years are short."

Get ready for a picture overload.

Aubrey was very excited to show us around her class and all that she's worked on throughout the year.

She read us her essay on butterflies.

She was eager to show us her freshly cleaned out desk. She has quite the bow collection going on in her desk.

We headed over to the computers and she showed us some stuff that she has done on the computer. Watching her sit there and use the computer, click on things and type her name, it's just crazy. She can use a computer.

The gum balls are all of her 100% on her timed tests. The stickers in the treasure chests are her Accelerated Reading tests that she passed. She made it into both the Reading and Math Club this year.

She read us a few books.

She was so very excited to show Allyson and I the playground. She is a pro on the monkey bars.

It was a fun evening at the school. Conrad had just came home from the hospital. Tess stayed home with Austin. It was a nice little break in the craziness that had just been going on.

First grade has been great. Aubrey had an amazing teacher. He did a great job of challenging and encouraging her. She has become quite the little reader. Her math skills are amazing. I'm impressed with the student she has become.

Thursday was Aubrey's last day of school!

Aubrey: Cute little tiger from her new legos set

Allyson got her first big girl lego set. She is beyond excited. She asks Aubrey everyday if they want to play Legos together, it's so sweet.

I put Austin in some underwear because I didn't have any diapers clean. He thought it was the so neat until he peed. Oh, the tears! He did enjoy some puzzle time in his cute undies. Funny story, these used to be Allyson's. When she saw him, she said "Hey! Bubbas is wearin' my unda-wear!"

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday! Any Memorial Day plans?

keep out of reach of children

What is that all over my sweet baby boy's knees?

A smidgen of light blue and then some hot pink.

Lovely, eh?

This kid cried when I ripped the marker from his hands. Then he found the brush from build a bear and tried scrubbing it off.
Thankfully, he just drew on his legs and a bit on his arms. I'm sure you are wondering where on earth I was while it happened. I had just turned on Frozen per Allyson's request. I was enjoying a few minutes of silence, Disney was working their magic on my kids.

My 2 year old found the sharpies my littlest sister borrowed {without asking} and had left them within reach of Austin.

Lesson learned, lock up my sharpies!

Rubbing alcohol is magic at getting sharpie off of skin.

It's the little things: Playtime

Play time with my little guy is so much fun. I'm loving being a boy mom!

I love my girls but all things trucks and cars is so much fun.

Austin loves his little road rug we got him for his first birthday. Watching the way his playtime on rug has evolved has been really special. Before, he would just drive the car on the rug where ever his little heart wanted to go and for a short amount of time. Now Austin will spend a good chunk of time on the floor driving around the track, making car noises, and of course making them CRASH!!

Isn't he just adorable?

You all know what I'm talking about.

The messy bun, yesterday's makeup face, with a hopefully clean top and your stretched out, comfy yoga pants.

You've seen me at morning drop off sportin' my yoga pants and old ragged shirt. Ok, you've probably seen me running errands in them too and since we are being honest, I wear them to afternoon pick up too. No matter how hard I try to get away from the yoga pants and old t-shirt, they crawl back into my life. My normal mom-iform works. I can do anything in it. Chase around the kids, clean, and basically anything inside the house, even exercise but that's a rare one.

Then,  there are those days that I do break out and get dress and slap on some makeup, people are asking what's different or throwing out compliments. When I actually take the time to fix my hair on top of all that other jazz, it's just insane. And how do I answer? Uh, I actually got dressed? No, seriously, no hair cut, my hair is just brushed and straight.

I am trying to break free from that and make actually getting dressed my new mom-iform. Comfort is still a must for me. I don't want to look like I just rolled out of bed at 2:00 pm {although, I would love to actually roll out of bed at 2:00!}  I want to be able to do all of my normal things in my new uniform. I don't want to break the bank doing so either. That was my excuse for a long time too. Enter JC Penny's, that place is amazing, y'all!

This is one of my new favorite comfy outfits.
I spent $6 on the shirt and $10 on the shorts, a steal I know!

Ladies, I haven't worn shorts in, I don't even know how long. I have stepped out of my comfort zone and embracing these. I'm so glad I did. These are perfect. They are longer, so I'm not too afraid to have to bend down and get a screaming kid off of the floor and have my buns hanging out.

Also, flats are my new favorite! I scooped up these pair at Target on a whim and I just love them. This is just one of my new pieces in my new uniform.

What does your mom-iform look like?

I'm pretty sure this is a glimpse into my future, which is pretty scary. She's talking on the iPhone, telling someone that she's at the airport and needs to be picked up, NOW! What you can't see is the cowgirl boots, bracelets, watch and her bags that she is taking to school with all of the things you need for college.

Allyson: Upset that her minion bow fell out of her hair. END OF THE WORLD. I think also a glimpse into my future. Over hair drama with teen girls.

Austin- This little fella loves making his cars go vroom!

Do you have anything planned this weekend? Today I'm guest posting over at A+ Life, go check it out!

Happy Saturday!

It's the little things: AWANAs Awards Night

Aubrey started going to AWANAs this year. If you don't know what AWANAs is, you need to check it out! Aubrey has had an absolute blast this year. She's made new friends. Playing games. She's learning to dive deeper into the Bible. She's memorizing verses and having so much fun while doing it. My heart is so full watching her and helping her tuck these verses into her heart.

Last week was her Awards Night. We had a lot of fun!! They had a dinner, the kids played and then they passed out awards. Aubrey finished her whole Sparks book and started on her second. Her first book had 35 verses in it and she memorized them all.  She's already memorized 10 in her new book. I'm so very proud of this little lady!!

She thought her ribbon was the best thing. It's hanging up on the side of her bed post.

We are both looking forward to next year. Allyson is even going to start in the fall.  I can't wait to watch both of my girls grow deeper in their faith and closer to Jesus.

Honored to be called Mom

Happy Monday friends! I hope that you had the great weekend with family.

Friday Aubrey came home from school with a gift that she had made. I have dreamed of these things as a mom. Those little hand me with love gift from your children. I wish I could have bottled up the excitement on Aubrey's face when she told me she had something for me.

We pulled out the tripod and Aubrey snapped away
MD Necklace

It's a little butterfly necklace with her finger print and her name. It's just precious!

I knew Mother's Day was going to be a bit different this year, with Conrad just having back surgery and all. My sister helped the kids make muffins before church. We stopped off at Starbucks before church.

Allyson came home with this sweet little handprint and poem from church.

I got some beautiful tulips and iris' from my kids.

Tess had the kids fill out these Mother's Day surveys for me. Aren't they the best?

We picked up lunch and dinner so there wasn't any real cleaning up to be done. Chipotle for lunch and Chili's for dinner. I mean, really, does it get any better?

These kids. They are crazy. They've taught me so much. I love them to pieces. I'm blessed and honored to be their mama!

I hope you enjoyed your day!!
