It's the little things: Baseball Game

*Sorry if this post is funky. I'm on my phone. Hopefully the pictures aren't all crazy*

Last month Aubrey's school was participating in some reading challenge. At the end of the month if you read every day for 30 minutes you won free tickets to a Modesto Nuts game. Aubrey was so thrilled to win. She told us she wanted to go to a Nuts game over a Giants game.

We knew all along that this was the day. They were going to have the kids parade around the field, hot dogs, soda, bounce house and just tons of fun. We didn't expect Conrad to have his surgery today.{blog coming soon} He was hoping to take her. Luckily for all of us, my mom stepped up to the plate & offered to take Aubrey. {you see what I did there, lol}

I got lots of fun pictures & updates from my mom throughout the evening.

Here's Aubrey walking the field.

Enjoying a hot dog.

Homegirl ate two! She knows how to do baseball games!

Enjoying her slushy.

My mom said Aubrey had more fun playing than actually watching the game.

It was really nice to get fun texts about my sweet girl while sitting in the hospital with my hubby. He should be discharged tomorrow & hoping I get the chance to blog about it. But those pictures brought smiles to both our faces.

Yesterday while I was rushing to get the house picked up before Conrad came home {why, yes we were still in jammies at 3pm. It's Spring break!} I was vacuuming and the kids all wanted to help. Well I can't pass up that kind of help. So they all took turns. Austin absolutely didn't want to share the vacuum, Allyson wanted to chase a crying Austin with the vacuum, and Miss Aubrey vacuumed the whole house. We found her newest chore!

Here is all of our weekly pictures.
Happy Saturday!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, friends! Let's do this!

We went to the beach yesterday and we had a blast. It might have taken us about 4 hours to get to the beach that was 2.5 hours away, thanks to a few potty breaks for Allyson. We had a great time once we finally made it!

Guys, I'm turning 30 on Sunday. I'm not even going to lie, I'm totally dreading it. Maybe, I'll just pull a Monica.

Moving on!

Aubrey has been on Spring Break this week and it's been wonderful sleeping in. The other day we didn't wake up until close to NINE! It was glorious! We've had a nice time just hanging out and not having to do anything or be anywhere.

Conrad is on a new work schedule and I'm really liking it.  He's going in earlier which means coming home earlier. It's been so nice having him home before the chaotic dinner and bath scramble that usually happens around 6. He's home and able to see the kids longer. We are going to bed earlier which means more sleep for me.  it's really just win-win-win.

and saving the best for last. Courtney from A+ Life and her sponsors {including me!} are giving a away a $25 Starbucks gift card. Fantastic right? You just need to follow these ladies for a chance to win.

Allowance for Aubrey

Allowance, this was such a tough thing for us to start. How much is appropriate? How often? Is this chore related? So many things went into this decision.

My goal is to have Aubrey {and later Allyson and Austin} to learn about money and how to be responsible with it. How to manage her money.  It's my desire to have learn how to save, giving money, and I want her to be able to buy things that she wants.

So here is how we have started. Aubrey gets $2.25 every Friday. We encouraged her to give 10% to the church. I had an envelope and she thought of the perfect verse to write on it.

How sweet is that, right?

Friday she gets her money and she has been putting a quarter in her envelope and praying over it before church. We decided that allowance wasn't going to be tied to chores. Chores are something that you do to help out the family. She's apart of the family so she has things that she needs to do to help out. Make her bed. Wipe the kitchen table off after meals. Sweep under if necessary. Wipe down the bathroom counter and sink.

I think I am going to add a list of additional things she can do to earn extra money. Clean the baseboards. Clean out the van. That way she has the chance to earn extra if she chooses to.

She's saved her money so far. She had some tooth fairy money and with her allowance is up to $10 in her piggy bank so far. I will eventually like her to keep track of her spending, so she can get practice balancing a checkbook...kind of.

What are your thoughts on allowance? How much do you think per week is acceptable?

It's the little things: Aubrey's pedicure

Aubrey went to her BFF's 7th birthday party on Friday and in the goodie bags was some nail polish and other girly things. Aubrey asked if she could paint her toenails. I told her that we could do it after Austin & Ally were in bed.

She asked if she could do it herself while I put Austin to bed. She knows that can take awhile. I said of course and headed to put brother to bed. I came out and we giggled about her stuffing her toes in the toe separator. She asked if she had to keep them in there because it hurts.  We definitely didn't need to keep them in there.
I looked down at her foot and it was messy but it was perfect. I know she could see me looking and she smiled up at me, so proud. But she did ask if I would paint her other toes.

I sat down and put the pink polish on her nails. We talked and giggled and it was different than the other times I had painted her nails. We were having a total girly bonding time. It was so special.

I finished up and she looked down at her feet and smiled and said people are going to know which one Mommy painted. I told her not to worry, we could clean up those smudges.

I feel like I end all my posts about my kids about how fast they are growing up but really they are growing up to fast! We just had a total girly bonding moment and I see many more in my future.

Easter Recap

Happy Tuesday! Have you recovered from your children's sugar highs yet? I think all of our candy is gone, thankful.

Let's do a little recap of our Easter celebrations.

Friday my kids visited the Easter bunny. Austin got into the chocolate can you tell? Both Allyson and Austin walked right up to the Easter bunny, no tears, no fears. I was shocked!

Saturday was a busy day. I had my niece over for the day. Let me tell you. I thought that having four kids wasn't going to be a big deal, what's one more? Oh.my.gosh! It was craziness. The noise level was crazy. Oh but they had so much fun! We had a birthday party that day, we braved Winco the day before Easter, watched Frozen Dyed eggs and I even bathed all four of them. Tiring but successful day!

They really liked coloring a secret picture on the egg and then seeing it appear after they dye it. It was like magic!

Egg Dying Collage
and I made our own egg dye this year. Holy moly it was easy. Some warm water, a Tablespoon of white vinegar and some drops of food coloring. The kids all thought it was the greatest to make the water darker and I swear the eggs turned out amazing.

Sunday was here, this was the day we have been waiting for, He has RISEN!

I made breakfast and we were dressed and ready for church, 10 minutes earlier than usual. It was an Easter miracle!

Church was great. The kids all had a great time. The service on Sunday was full, and we went to the 9am service. I was surprised but it's a good surprise to see so many there so early.

After church, we attempted a family picture. Allyson refused to even look at the camera, typical. Austin just wanted to get down and look for eggs.

We hid eggs in the backyard and the kids had fun finding the eggs. Austin quickly realized that some eggs had some M&Ms in them and other didn't. He would find an egg, shake it and toss it if he didn't hear anything. Smart kid!

Yep, he's picking his nose.

After watching a few egg hunts inside and out. A melt down from Allyson and a quick car nap for Austin, we were off to Conrad's moms house for dinner.

There I was able to get a decent pic of the kids.
The food was so yummy, like it always it. We had a great time watching the kids run, fight, cry, play together, do an egg hunts and just have this time with family.

I finally got a nice family picture

How was your Easter weekend?

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week for a year. "

Aubrey: Getting her groove on at an Easter celebration.
Allyson: Only the best new way to swing EVER!
Austin: Reading his truck book. This boy really loves his truck book.

What to pack for the day with a 2 & 3 year old

Diaper Bag
I feel like I've been carrying a bag around forever. Umm, because I have. Since Allyson has been potty trained she really didn't need a diaper bag anymore. Austin got bigger and I felt like I didn't need all of that room my diaper bag had.

I ordered this adorable Skip Hop backpacks. A ladybug for Allyson and a cute dino for Austin.

Allyson's backpack is most just whatever treasure or book she wants to take around that day. We used to keep an extra set of clothes in there in case of accidents, now that's kept in my van.

Her water bottle, a teacup, barbie shoe, Sophie, and a wise man, duh!

There's a bit more in Austin's.
It's a lot of the same stuff as before. The diapers, cloth wipes, wetbag and some diaper spray. All the cloth diaper necessities.

The toys just kind of depend on what he's into. He loves this book and some little cars are always great to have handy.

Water and Snacks, because how else do you keep kids quiet while running errands?? The key to his heart is food.

Wet Ones because I hate when the places don't have the cart wipes. That sounds a bit snobby, doesn't it? But seriously, it'll bug me my whole trip and well that's just not fun. So I've learned to just bring my own or stick to Target.

Boogie Wipes

Hand sanitizer because clearly I'm crazy when it comes to that.

Their bags mostly stay in the car. I'll take the wet-bag if needed and replace with new diapers and wipes.  The snacks get replaced often. The kids enjoying wearing their backpack like Aubrey has for school. It's convenient now to have 2 different bags for church. Allyson's papers and crafts get put in her backpack and we don't have to try to carry those while juggling the kids. Austin's coloring page will be kept in his bag. It's super convenient and this system seems to be working for us.

Here's what I was carrying around last year.

What do you carry around for your 2 or 3 year old? Do you still carry a bag for them?
