Ellie returns

I know that there are a lot of people that think that Elf on the Shelf is creepy but we love it here. Aubrey has been asking about our elf for a while.

Yesterday Santa dropped off a package for the kids.

look at the excitement in Aubrey's face. I wish I would have taped it. She was crazy excited. Allyson was excited but she wasn't too sure why.

We don't do the whole naughty/nice list thing here. Ellie doesn't report back to Santa each night. There was a note from Santa explaining the rumor of the naughty / nice list. Santa does care if you are good, obey your parents and are kind to everyone because those are the right things to do. But Santa knows that kids make mistakes and loves them anyway, just like Jesus loves us unconditionally. The kids need to show Ellie love if/when she does something naughty.

Ellie also brought us some stuff to make Christmas trees for dessert. What a nice little elf she is!

Ally really just wanted  to eat the M&Ms.

Allyson got more into once I let her frost the tree.

Aubrey was in the zone. Frosting her tree, sprinkling sprinkles, and placing the M&M's in just the right places.

Austin just ate the M&M's.

and they were good!!

Aubrey went and talked to the Ellie so many times tonight. Telling her what she hoped to get from Santa. Asking Ellie not to do anything bad. We watched Doc McStuffin's Christmas episode and Aubrey came running into the dining and told Ellie all about, it was just so special to see.

It's so fun to be a parent and see holidays, magic and excitement  through your child's eyes. It's like reliving it all over again but even more special. I don't know how that's possible, but I love it. I'm excited to see what our Ellie does. And how crazy is it that it's December?!?!?

Are you doing Elf on the Shelf? Anything fun planned for your elf?

Thanksgiving 2013

Happy Thanksgiving friends! I hope you had a great time with family.

We spent Thanksgiving at Conrad's Mom's house, like we do every year. My mom and my sisters come over too. I am seriously so lucky that my kids and I get to spend the holiday with both grandmas. I had every intention of taking pictures of the kids and grandmas but ... yea, didn't happen. Time got away from us.

The kids all sat at a little kids table this year. How cute are they? They all actually sat there for the most part, it was amazing. Allyson and Austin only ate their roll, that's it. Didn't even touch anything else. Yay, for two picky eaters. The food was delicious, there was tons of it. Desserts. Lots of yummy treats.

IMG_5701
Austin loved the chocolate pie! He sat their long after the girls finished up, just taking his time, and enjoying his pie.
IMG_5710
It was a nice day surrounded by family and counting our blessings. The kids were crazy, they had fun. We enjoyed everyone's company. This is the first Thanksgiving that I didn't have to be feeding or worrying about feeding a baby. All the kids were able to feed themselves, it was just crazy to make their plates and mine and then sit down. I did get up 50 times to fill up punch, just more potatoes, or help pull someone's chair closer. But they are becoming so grown up and independent.

This has been a tough year for me but I have just so much to be thankful for.

I'm so thankful for my husband. He's amazing.
I'm thankful for my kids. They keep me on my feet. and they are pretty amazing too.
Thankful for our health. Conrad has his back problems but he's healthy.  We have 3 healthy children.
I have great friends that are there for me through everything.
I am truly blessed.

Allyson's 3 year check up

Little Miss had her 3 year doctor visit today. She was so talkative this morning about going to the doctor to make her feel better (Thank you, DocMcStuffins for making the doctors office a not so scary place) and couldn't wait to get her and Bubs a Sillypop {lollipop}.

She will usually freak out as soon as we pull into the parking lot, but she didn't today. She was amazing. Got on the scale and she stood still. She cooperated nicely while measuring her height.  She didn't even flinch when they pricked her finger for the hemoglobin. Whose kid was this??

Then the fun started. She didn't want to give a urine sample. No thank you, Mommy. I don't need to go potty in a cup.

Vision test time. I was so proud of her standing there saying the letters instead of needing to point to the paper. Then it came time to put on the glasses that have one eye hole blacked out. Oh, how she thought it was so hilarious. So we skipped it and moved to the hearing test.

Little Miss Manners returned and politely declined wearing the headphones. She wanted no part of them whatsoever.

She did great for her exam. After she the doctor was finished she told me "Mommy, I feel so much better!" thanks again Doc McStuffin. I can't believe how easy this was. I know I would be singing a different song had we had to get shots but thankfully she's all caught up.

Stats
32.5 pounds
37 inches

So proud of my little lady! She definitely earned her sillypop today!

20 months

I'm not sure how but another month has come and gone. My sweet little guy is 20 months old.
IMG_5685

He's full of attitude. I wonder where he got that with 2 big sisters around. hmm.

He has learned to say No! and it's that cutest thing. He will wave his little hand. hmm NO!
My little guy who would eat practically anything is getting more and more picky.
IMG_5683
His feet, oh they kill me. They are so little and just seem so baby to me still.
He loves shoes!

He loves football. He throws his fist into the air and says "foot-ba", his Daddy is proud.

He's so worried about his sisters. The bond that he and Allyson has is amazing. When he wakes up and she's not awake, he'll ask about her. When she comes out he'll hug her and kiss her. She does the same to him. When Allyson isn't so nice to him, he comes and says Sissy, sissy, hamastfyls, while pointing to where ever she hit/pushed/took away a toy/stuffed animal, then come lay his head on me. He says sorry.

He loves Aubrey too. Picking her up from school, he squeals with excitement. He hugs her and kisses her. She takes good care of her little brother and he knows it.

He likes to head-butt my leg. Umm, is this normal? My girls never did this. He thinks it's hilarious.

He still loves going outside. He will CRY if someone mentions outside and we don't go.

He can climb into the van.
IMG_5677

He loves to have his hair styled. He will stand there and just be so patient and still {Maybe he could teach Allyson a thing or two} then when it's time to look in the mirror, he smiles SO BIG!! Oh my word it's the best and he will stick his arms out and say TA-DA!! Melts my heart every.single.time.
IMG_5680
He loves to help with laundry and cleaning up toys.

He's just completes our family. He's such a joy and I love him to pieces. He might be turning into a mama's boy.

and can you believe this was him last year? Is that even the same child?? Talk about a baby and a little boy. His hair, oh I bet he has his curls in the back!!

I think I'm going to go cry now, I miss my baby boy.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

Student of the Month

On Monday, we were invited to an assembly for Student of the month and Aubrey was one of the kids getting an award and certificate.

Here she is with the Principal and Vice Principal
Principal
This month's character trait is honesty. It makes my heart so full, watching her grow and being recognized for such a wonderful character trait. This can be a tough one for us at our house. It's not that Aubrey isn't honest because she is, but it's doing what's right when no one is around. Jumping on couch when she thinks we aren't looking. After we tell her no, she will tell Allyson to ask us.

It's just kid stuff, I know. It's nice that this is a trait that her teacher feels that she displays.
Student of the Month
During the assembly, Allyson kept asking if she could go up there. I wasn't sure what up there meant. I thought she mean sitting with Aubrey. After it was over I told Allyson she could go "up there" and she wanted to stand by the podium. Crazy kid.
IMG_5673
Aubrey is one incredible little girl, with such a kind heart. It was fun to go to her school and celebrate her. I'm one proud momma!!

Hide & Seek with my 3 year old

I know I say all of the time, but these kids are growing too fast. On Monday, Allyson and I headed outside to play while Austin was napping.

Her idea of a great time outside is playing hide and seek.  And by hide and seek she means, run over to the tree and then pop out and scream BOO!
IMG_5584

look at her locks of hair. Oh they are gorgeous!

IMG_5562

She's so goofy. Has such a sense of humor. A copy cat. She's a talker!

IMG_5580

Cheese Mommy!! Cracks me up!!

IMG_5546

IMG_5567
She's just so much fun to play with. She can tell me what she wants to do, and how to do it. I cherish these times that just her and I share together.

Rainy Day

Yesterday when I picked Aubrey up from school it was raining and my girl was so excited. She's been checking the weather app on the iPod just waiting for the chance to wear her boots and splash around in puddles.

When I picked her up she was thrilled because it was pouring!! Pouring down rain and it was amazing.  The smell of the rain, the sound, and the fun comes with the rain. Oh, how I loved it too.

IMG_5637

We came home from school and put on Allyson's rain jacket and got her new ladybug umbrella {how perfect is that?} If we just could have found her left ladybug boot, that would have made the outfit, but these worked.
IMG_5650

Aubrey had the best time. Walking in the water, jumping, splashing, and looking up into the sky while the rain hit her face.
IMG_5639

Allyson, despite this picture of her crying, enjoyed it too. She still hasn't figured out how to keep the umbrella OVER her head. Sissy does not like rain on her face.
IMG_5632
I'm looking forward to more rainy days, more time puddle jumping with my girls and hopefully little brother won't sleep through it, because I know he'd like it.

Thankful

Last week when all of my children decided to get sick at the same time, I had just started a new bible study on Thanksgiving: Focusing our hearts on gratitude. That very first day I realized something. I had a choice to make, I could spend my whole time whining and complaining about 3 sick kids or I could find things that I'm thankful for.
IMG_5534

Monday, I was thankful for Motrin, helped keep the kids fevers down. Thank you God, for Conrad's work schedule. He was off in time for baths and bedtimes. That was seriously what I had written down for the whole day.

Tuesday, after some broken sleep, I was ready for a new day and was determined to have a better attitude. It wasn't long after Conrad left for work it hit me, I just how thankful to be a stay at home mom. I didn't have to worry about calling in sick to work or having to scramble to find someone to watch the kiddos because they couldn't go to daycare or school with fevers and nasty coughs. I wasn't missing out any pay, I was getting those extra cuddles and snuggles, even if they did cough in my face a few times. I decided then, I didn't have to be happy that they were sick, but I was thankful it was only fevers and coughs. Thankful that we have insurance and I was able to go to the doctor that evening just to listen to Austin's breathing, just for my peace of mind.

Since then, I am finding myself finding more good in things, more reasons to be thankful. I didn't worry about starting dinner, finishing up the laundry or cleaning anything, I sat right there with them. Watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for the 950th time that day. Took their temps and gave our medicine like it was my job, because it is, to take care of these sweet little ones. Crackers, check! Blankets, check! Momma had a peppermint mocha and vanilla scones delivered via her sweet MIL, double check!

I think that I'm actually thankful that their sickness hit when it did. It's opened my eyes to how blessed I really am. Now that all are healthier, Austin still has a lingering cough, I am still counting my blessings. I'm really hoping that I will continue to have a thankful heart throughout the whole year.

What are you thankful for today?

Despicable THREE

On Saturday, we celebrated Allyson's 3rd birthday. She was in her glory, having another birthday party, you know because her actual day wasn't enough.

Allyson has been in love with Minions over the last few months and so we changed her party from Mickey Mouse/Minnie to Minions! There is a game Minion Rush on the iPod that her and Aubrey LOVE, ok I love it too. But any time we would see a minion at the store or a coloring book, she would laugh and laugh. So we made the switch, and I'm so glad we did. Some time in October Despicable Me was on the Disney channel and I let the kids watch it, we'd seen it before but Ally never cared much about it, after that she was hooked on the whole movie. YAY!! So Despicable Three it became!

IMG_5362

We are so lucky to have friends and family come and celebrate our little girls birthday.
