I wish that when I became a Mom someone told me how to discipline Aubrey. Or told me that I was going to need to start at a young age. I would start to train her as a young age . . . I'm talking 6 months. I never really thought that a baby could but it's all about learning the right way from the beginning right? So there are so many ways to parent our children which one is right for us?
My SIL took a parenting class at their church last year and really liked it. The toddler verison of this class started and I thought hey why not. C and I really like. It's
On Becoming Toddlerwise by Gary Ezzo. I knew Aubrey was just a little out of the age range but hey we would have to start somewhere and start small? I can't tell you how great it's been. The simplest things. We are expecting Aubrey to obey us the first time we ask some. No more counting. Let me tell you how hard it was to stop this. It had become so automatic. Aubrey 1,2,3 .. No more counting in our house. Aubrey has caught on to this too. She knows she needs to do what C or I ask of her the first time. She doesn't have an extra 3 seconds. There is so much more. It's so simple and it makes so much sense.
At the beginning of March the BabyWise version of the class started. We thought we better start now with Allyson. Teaching Allyson self-control. I know what you might be thinking ... a baby self control? But really you are practicing with them at this young age and then when they become a toddler or whatever age and you expect them to exercise self control and obey you, they will. We are getting Allyson on a schedule (once I get Ally on more of a schedule then we will be working on Aubrey).
I know that this isn't the right choice for everyone but we believe that it is a good fit for our family. I'll keep you posted on how things go with this.
