Looking back on 2010

What a year it has been!

Conrad and I celebrated 5 years of marriage in Lake Tahoe. We found out I was pregnant. Conrad had pneumonia. We moved into a bigger place. We have watched as Aubrey transformed from a toddler to a little girl in the blink of an eye. I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, then Bells Palsy. Kathy and I made Allyson's A-DORABLE nursery. We became a family of four as we welcomed Allyson Grace to the world. We have seen Aubrey love her little sister. In just a few short weeks Allyson has grown too. We spent the holidays adjusting to our new role of parents of 2 children (which we are learning isn't easy, but so worth it!)

Our sweet Allyson

She's growing up too fast!

Through all that has happened this last year I have learned that I need to rely on God and His Plan. When things don't seem like they were going to work out for us, they did. When money was tight and the birth of Allyson was coming up and we were thinking "Can we really do this?" God provided. When I did not think I was going to be able to wake up in the middle of the night or get through the day, I found just enough strength to get through ... all coming from God.

I'm looking forward to seeing what 2011 brings and what God has in store of my family.

New iphone 4s!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I realized I haven't posted in a while. It has been a rough couple of weeks but it is getting better. I haven't been on my actual computer in awhile. I've been using my ipod to check emails, be on facebook and what not. It's a little weird to be on the laptop now. . . anywho ..

Allyson is FINALLY gaining weight. Last week she was up to 8 pounds 1/2 ounce! All of our hard work is paying off. She is starting to be awake more and more. She's smiling at us. She is a good little baby.

Aubrey is LOVING life as a big sister!! She cares so much for Allyson. She comes into the nursery and gives me diapers when Ally has a dirty diaper. She is always willing to run to go get a blankey, binky, diaper, my phone or ipod. She's awesome! When Allyson starts to fuss or even make a little noise Aubrey lets me know. She always wants to hold/hug/kiss/rub/talk to or play with Ally. I think sometimes she forgets that Ally isn't a doll.

My little goof ball!

I can't believe that Ally is almost 6 weeks old!! She has changed soo much. Conrad and I are soaking up every minute of baby bliss because we remember just how fast they grow. We have been fortunate enough to have Conrad be home helping me these last 6 weeks. He is going back to work this week. I am scared to have him go back to work. He has been such an incredible help. I know how much he has enjoyed this time too. We are all going to miss him!!!

It's going to be feeding time soon. I also need to get the clothes out of the dryer. Yep this is when I do my laundry!

Ally's Weight

These last couple weeks has been exhausting!! I forgot just how much work it is to have a newborn in the house. I have enjoyed every sleepless minute. I'm enjoying all the little yawns, the snuggles and cuddles I have with Allyson. I remember how fast they grow.

One struggle that we have had is Ally gaining weight. Here is how it's been over the last 2 weeks.

11/4 7 lbs 1 ounce birth weight

11/6 She was discharged from the hospital at 6 lbs 11 oz

11/8 - DR Appt 6 lbs 7 oz - and because of her weight he wants to see her back in 2 weeks on the 11/22

11/12 - I went to a Breast-feeding Support Group at Memorial. I went to get help with my latch and sore nipples but couldn't get an appointment until Monday and they were able to help there. If I didnt go I would have given up on nursing her. I was able to check her weight here and she was at 6 lbs 14 oz.

11/15 LC Appt - 6 lbs 11.5 oz - Ally had lost weight in 3 days. The LC said that newborns usually gain about 1/2 ounce to an ounce a day. She recommended pumping to increase my supply, that maybe Ally wasn't getting enough. She said that by 2 weeks old babies should be back at their birth weight. She asked me to come back on Wednesday to check her weight.

11/17 Weight check - 6 lbs 10.5 oz- and I had just fed her, 20-30 mins before weighing her. This is when they recommended feeding her using the tube on some feedings to get her some extra milk. She recommended that I keep pumping and keep feeding her every 2 hours.

11/19 - LC Appointment - Ally weighed 6 lbs 10.5 oz. No gain no loss. It was truly frustrating at this point. Now we are to feed her every 2 hours and feed her using the tube also.

11/22 - DR Appointment - Here it is 2 weeks later and we have pulled out all of the stops except formula. The LC said that her pediatrician might recommend supplementing Ally with formula, but this would be for Ally's best interest. Conrad and I were both pretty nervous going to this appointment. We have tried everything and had our fingers crossed for some kind of gain. To our great surprise when we put Allyson on the scale it read 7 pound 1/2 ounce. She gained 7 ounces in 3 days!! All of our hard work had paid off. She is a 1/2 ounce shy of her birth weight but the pediatrician isn't worried. Praise God. We have an appointment with the LC on Wednesday and we are going to see what they recommend doing. Hopefully Allyson will have continued to gain weight and we can cut out the tube feeding or at least some of them.

Welcome to the world Allyson Grace

Our induction was scheduled at 7:30AM on November 4th. Aubrey was off to her Papa and Nana's house and we set out to the hospital to meet our second little princess. I had my IV put and was just waiting for the doctor's orders to start the medicine to help me to dilate. I started the medicine at 9:30 and had to lay down for 2 hours to give the medicine a chance to work. Things got a little crazy because my nurse had some how hit her head and was over in the ER, luckily she was okay but had to go home. We got our new nurse, Lillian, who was amazing!!

I started to have contractions that were coming pretty frequently but nothing too horrible. At 2 o'clock my contraction were coming frequently but not doing anything. They were coming too often to insert another pill. I still wasn't dilated more than a 1/2 cm . . yes you read that correctly a half of a centimeter. They said that if nothing happened by 8 PM they would let me eat (since I had been told not to eat anything past midnight the previous night) I prayed that labor would progress.

I did some bouncing on the ball, my mom and I walked the hallways what felt like a million times. Our nurse even let us go into the main hallway and walk. At that point I was 3 cm dilated. While walking the main hallway my contractions went from bad to worse in what felt like a matter of minutes.

At 6PM I was back in the room and was checked. I was 6cm dilated. My water had broke while the nurse checked me. I had my epidural in and was feeling sooo much better. I was checked again at 7 o'clock and was 8cm dilated. Things were moving right along, we were getting so much closer to meeting our little Allyson. At about 7:30 the nurse had came in and had me change positions because she noticed that little Ally's heart rate was getting lower, nothing to be worried about yet. Laid on my side for a few minutes, tried my other side and then she put the oxygen mask on me for a little bit. She said that changing positions sometimes helps and if it doesn't it might mean that baby is right there and ready to come out so she checked me and guess what 10 CM!!! We were getting ready to push. She called the DR and we waited. She said that just because I'm at 10 doesn't mean that I need to push, to wait until I had the urge.

Then the fun started. People came into the room. The bed was being pulled apart. The baby's bed was getting warmed up... it was BABY TIME!! The DR came in and I pushed for about 4 minutes and Allyson was out. So much faster this time around (I pushed for 2 1/2 hours with Aubrey) I had a small tear and only needed 1 stitch.

She arrived at 8:13 PM weighing 7 pounds 1 ounce, 20 1/2 inches and was just perfect. She got 8/9 on her APGAR test. She came out crying, she was just beautiful. Papa and Nana brought Aubrey to the hospital so she could finally meet her baby sister. It was so neat to see Aubrey's face. She just stared down at her and didn't even know what to think. It was just amazing to witness. Family and friends came to visit. The nurse brought me some food. A turkey sandwich, chips, a cookie and a cranberry juice and 7 up. Let me tell you how amazing that was! I hadn't eaten since the previous night and I was able to have chips, a cookie and juice. AMAZING!!!

She is a great baby. She only cries when she's hungry. Breastfeeding went well in the hospital. We have had some trouble the last week since being home, but we are working on it with a lactation consultant and are working through it.

Things are going wonderful at home. Candice and Kathy decorated our house. So much fun to come home too. We have been blessed with great family and friends that have been bringing meals over for us. Aubrey is adjusting well to having Allyson home. She loves to give her hugs, kisses, sing to the baby. It's just wonderful ! I love love love being a mommy!!

Big Sister Aubrey

♥ It doesn't get much better than this ♥

Aubrey is such a great big sister! She has so much love for Baby Ally. She is adjusting to life with a little sister pretty well. She does such a great job helping. She loves to kiss Allyson, talk to her, rub her, hold her and help with diaper changing. I just love love love seeing the two of them together. I know that they are going to be close and it just melts my heart.

Allyson's First DR Appt

Ally had her first visit to the doctor today. Just to check her weight and check for jaundice. She was discharged from the hospital weighing 6 pounds 11 ounces and low risk for jaundice. The DR checked her out and said that she looks great. She has lost some weight and wants to get her weight back up so we are to feed her every 2-3 hours and are coming back in 2 weeks just to make sure she is gaining the weight that she needs to.

Length: 20 1/2 inches
Weight: 6 pounds 7 ounces

She wasn't too happy about the appointment. She did great though.

Feeling under the weather - DR Appt

This morning I woke up not feeling well. I ate breakfast and wasn't able to keep that down. I tried a few other times to eat and wasn't able to keep anything down. I called the DR and they wanted me to come in this afternoon to make sure that everything was okay with Allyson and myself.

The DR didn't sounds like he was too worried about it. I had an NST scheduled for tomorrow but he wanted me to have it done today to make sure that our little one was doing good. Conrad was at this appointment with me. It was soooo nice to have someone in the room with me. Ally was moving around, so all is good. The NST monitors contractions and baby's heart rate. Usually my contractions are around 19-20ish. Today they were in the 100's and were peaking at 160. Something is happening in there YAY!!

Before the NST he checked me and there was some progress. Those hours of bouncing on the exercise ball and dancing to Vanilla Ice is paying off. My cervix is thin and not dilated but he said that her head is right there. He looked at my chart and asked what the other DR said about inducing. I told him what the other DR's had told me and he said that we have made some progress and we will see what the NST says and maybe schedule an induction.

So the NST looked great, Ally isn't in any danger. He called the hospital came back in and said How about Thursday?? Sounds P E R F E C T to me!! I'm so happy to finally have a date. There is an end in sight, finally!!

I'm so excited to think in just 3 days we will get to meet our little girl!! I cannot wait!!

Blood Pressure: 110/62

Weight: 159 pounds -
I lost three pounds since Thursday.
I think this is due to my ball bouncing and dancing,
and not keeping food down today.

Baby's heart rate : 130 - Allyson was sleeping

Happy Halloween!!

Here is my little ballerina Aubrey

My favorite picture of her!!

Mom we forgot the lip gloss. Yes I put make up on her. She thought it was so neat to be wearing make up. She was just too adorable!

We went to Family Fun Night at our church. Lots of games and candy.

I'm so thankful that my Mom came along with me. I don't think that I could have done it. At almost 40 weeks pregnant I was just exhausted watching my Mom and Aubrey. After every game Aubrey would ask if she could eat a piece of candy.

It's Allyson and Piper - BFF's since the beginning

What a great night!!

We had such a fun night!!

39 weeks and Appointment Update

I had my NST and 39 week appointment yesterday and well let’s say I didn’t leave happy. NST went like the last one. Little Miss Ally didn’t want to move for the longest time then BAM!! She went nuts.

Next I had my appointment. . . Allyson is measuring 38 weeks. Her heart rate is great. Looked at my blood sugars ... doing wonderful. She asked if I wanted to be checked and I did because I had be bouncing on the exercise ball, I went walking, and even danced my butt off with Aubrey. DR checked and a big fat NO CHANGE. Still closed and thick. So since Ally is doing great and my sugars are where they need to be and my cervix hasn’t changed she still doesn’t want to schedule an induction. This was heartbreaking to me. I am so over being pregnant. I’m ready to meet this little girl. I know Conrad and Aubrey are ready to meet her. I know that they aren’t scheduling it because it is what’s best, and they are looking out for my health and Allyson’s but it just stinks.

I think I cried for a good 2 hours yesterday. I don’t know what upset me the most. Having not made any progress after trying. Having to wait longer to meet her. Being told that I wouldn’t go past my due date and yet I have another doctor’s appointment ON MY DUE DATE. I’m mad that I have to continue this silly GD diet. I guess I was hoping/thinking that even with no progress they would set a date for November 5th or November 8th.

It is a horrible tease looking around the house and seeing her cute room, wanting to sit and rock with her on the glider, walking by her bassinet in our room, the pack n play in the living room and her car seat it’s all just staring at me. I can’t wait to see what she looks likes. Will she have blue eyes like Conrad and Aubrey, will they be green like mine? Will she look like Aubrey when she was born? Will she be a good baby? Will I be able to nurse. All these things that I felt like were going to be answered sometime within the next 7 days ... or have a date set. . But I am thankful that she is growing well and I’m doing good.

Weight: 162 pounds

Blood Pressure: 122/74 (highest it’s been)

Baby’s Heart rate: 140

Measuring: 38 weeks

How far along: 39 weeks and 1 day

Next appointment: Another NST on Tuesday. DR appt on Thursday

Any new aches/pains: I’m just DONE being pregnant. I have pressure in my pelvis. It hurts to walk or stand.

Sleep: I really can’t complain too much. I’m only getting up once to go to the bathroom. It’s uncomfortable yes but not horrible.

Best moment this week: I made cookies with Aubrey last night and had a few ... ohhh they were good!!!

Movement: Lots and lots. Especially at night, she is going to be our little night owl.

Labor signs: A few contractions here and there.

What I’m looking forward to this week: I can’t wait to take Aubrey to the Halloween Harvest Festival at church on Sunday. She’s going to be a ballerina and she is going to be sooo adorable!!

NST appointment

This morning was my NST appointment at my OB's office. My precious little girl did not want to cooperate ... yes I'm talking about Allyson!! I was hooked up to the machine and NOTHING. She must have been sleeping. I tried poking my belly, nothing. Then I was pushing on my belly and I get a lovely little kick back and then nothing. She must have been saying "Mom I'm trying to sleep." They came in a checked the paper and of course nothing had happen so I laid for a little while longer, and a part of me started to panic just a teeny tiny bit. I don't know what happens if she doesn't move or her heart rate doesn't get to where it needs to be. After my mini attack she started moving and kicking and doing just fine. The nurse came in, checked out the readings and we were good to go!

My next NST is on Thursday, followed by my regular appointment. Hopefully I will receive some good news!!

And just for fun ...

38 weeks and 4 days

How far along: 38 weeks and 4 days

Next appointment: NST tomorrow and another NST & Appointment on Thursday

Any new aches/pains: I'm just done. My feet hurt, my hips hurt ... I'm emotional. I'm just DONE being pregnant!!

Sleep: Sleep isn't too bad. It just takes me a while to fall asleep. I finally fall asleep and guess what?? Time to pee!

Movement: Constantly!! As I type this I think she is trying to bust out of my belly on my right side.

Labor signs: Just a few contractions here and there.

Food cravings: I made chocolate chip cookies and had some... I gave in to the craving. It was A-MAZING.

What I’m looking forward to this week: Looking forward to my doctor's appointment. I am hoping that there will be be some sort of progress and we can schedule my induction or this girl will come on her own.

38 week appointment with new OB

So today I had an appointment at the new OB office today. I went in and the OB came in and reviewed my chart with me, we went over some of my stuff with my GD. I told her how my old OB felt about my GD and inducing and what she thinks? She looked at my chart and said that we could induce at 39 weeks, which is next week!! She says that she is going to call the hospital and set it up for next Thursday or Friday depending on what's open. In the meantime she wants me to have NSTs done twice a week. The do it there at the office and I went into the room and did the NST. The nurse comes in and says that the DR would like to check me to make sure my cervix is favorable.

I go into the room and she comes in and tells me that she noticed I haven't been checked and would like to check me to see that's cervix is favorable that way it doesn't end up as a c-section. I had been having contractions so I thought something would be happening ... NOTHING. Cervix is closed and thick ... so no induction next week. She said doesn't like her GD patients to go past there due date, so we will be having an NST Tuesday and a regular appointment Thursday and see if anything has changed and go from there.

I know it's all for the best but it just stinks!! I thought for sure something ... ANYTHING. I had been having some contractions and lots of pressure. I thought for sure a little teeny tiny something.

The good news is that LO is head down. So I am hoping something happens with the full moon tonight!

Blood Pressure: 117/68

Weight: 161 pounds

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday was finally the day that Aubrey has been waiting for my entire pregnancy.

We went to the

We had a great time at the Resendiz Family Fruit Barn.

Aubrey had fun feeding the fishies, planting broccoli, seeing the animals, tasting treats from the bakery and of course picking out a pumpkin.

How about this one, Mom?

My favorite pic!

Ally's first trip to the pumpkin patch. She's an honorary farmer!

After the pumpkin patch I had my lovely OB appointment. I dropped Aubrey off at Kathy's house so she could watch her while I had my appointment. I was hugging Aubrey and telling her I was going to the DR and would pick her up soon. My lovely little girl looks at me and says

"Are you going to go push Ally out now??"

Kathy and I just laughed. She knew that little Ally would be here after our trip to the pumpkin patch and well it was after. I wish it was that easy!!

38 weeks appointment

I had my regular OB appointment yesterday. I was hoping to get checked out and see if there is any kind of progress going on. Then the Nurse Practitioner walks in and I knew that I wouldn't be getting checked out today. Baby girl is measuring 39 weeks everything is looking good. She mentions to me that the DR isn't in the office and I knew that right? NO!!

Long story short is that he had surgery to remove some cancer and isn't going to be in the office until late November, early December. DR will not be delivering my Allyson. So I am being referred to another OB here in town and I have an appointment with her on Friday. Hopefully I will get something.

The NP also has my due date as 11/2 so as of today I'm 38 weeks!! YAY :) I don't know when that changed.

Now I just wait for Friday and see what happens at this new office.

blood pressure: 112/65
weight: 158 pounds. Down one from last week
baby's heart rate: in the 140's and doing just perfect!

Tennis Time

We took Aubrey out last weekend to play tennis. She did a pretty good job. She had SOOO much fun.

Daddy throwing the ball for her

Her favorite part of playing??

Chasing after the balls.

2nd favorite thing?

Throwing the balls to Daddy to hit, so she could chase them

Third? Water break. She probably took 20 breaks for water in 30 minutes.

My little tennis superstar!

37 weeks and 2 days

How far along: 37 weeks and 2 days

Next appointment: tuesday

Any new aches/pains: I think that Allyson is dropping. I have had a lot of pressure down there. My legs also feel like I've been riding a horse for the last week.

Sleep: I had a week of really really good sleep. This last week ... not so good. I'm uncomfortable and hot.

Best moment this week: Finishing Allyson's nursery - FINISHED!!!

Movement: When isn't there movement?

Labor signs: Thursday night I went to bed at about 11:30 and was having contractions that were about 10 minutes apart. I waited for them to get closer or stronger, nothing after about 2 hours they went away.

Food cravings: I want donuts. Donuts with chocolate sprinkles, glazed donuts, sugar donuts, a cinnamon roll ... shoot I don't care just a donut!

What I miss: I miss my sleep!!

What I’m looking forward to this week: Looking forward going to the pumpkin patch with Aubrey. Allyson needs to hold off on coming until after mommy and sissy go on Tuesday. I'm really looking forward to doing this with Aubrey.

DR Appt - 37 weeks

I had my 37 weeks appointment today. I didn't see the OB which was weird. So I didn't get checked which I am kinda bummed about because I was hoping for some kind of progress. I saw the NP. Everything is looking good. No mention of induction, which is upsetting. I'm so done being pregnant. I know this is a 40 week deal and yes I have 3 more weeks to go. That doesn't help the fact that I want her here NOW!! I'm done being uncomfortable during the day, not being able to sleep, having to pee constantly, watching what I eat, when I eat and poking my fingers. When I got diagnosed with the GD being induced early (even if it was a week!) was like my one little thing to look forward to. I know they mentioned that I wouldn't go past my due date ... but isn't that something that can be scheduled now? To have a date right now would feel great. If Allyson doesn't come on her own she will be here on X day. I got nothing! I guess I should have asked but again I saw the NP not the OB ... *sigh* Drama I know. Good thing I can blame it on my hormones :)

Here are my stats from the appointment

Blood Pressure: 110/65
Weight: 159 up two pound from 2 weeks ago
Baby's heart rate: in the 130's then up to 140

Everything is looking good! And for that I am thankful!

Sleep: for some reason I have been sleeping really really well the last 3 days or so.

Best moment this week: Painting the letters for allyson's room. doing the last minute things.

Movement: This little girl is a mover. I really think that she is going to be a night owl though. Daddy and allyson will be staying up late together.

Labor signs: I have been having contractions. nothing too strong or even regular. the doctor said to keep taking it easy until i hit 37 weeks and then she is good and ready to come out. YAY!

Food cravings: it's the same thing. I want candy corn, chocolate, just about anything that I can't have.

What I’m looking forward to this week: mops was this morning. bunco is tonight wahoo!!

35 week appointment

Today's appointment was more eventful than past appointment. I have been having irregular contractions since Sunday. I have been trying to keep off my feet and drinking lots of water. I mentioned it to the Nurse Practitioner. She said that's exactly what I need to be doing, keeping off my feet. Modified bed rest. My next appointment I will be seeing the OB. She said he will talk about inducing because of my gestational diabetes. (I'm so excited knowing that I won't be late like I was with Aubrey.) My appointment lasted longer than 5 minutes. :)

Allyson is doing great. She's moving around, kicking up a storm. She is measuring at 36 weeks. Everything is looking great!

Weight: 157 - up one pound from 2 weeks ago
Blood Pressure: I can't remember what it was for the life of me but I remember that it was good.
Baby's heart rate: in the 140's

Baby Shower for Allyson

My baby shower for Allyson was Saturday. I had such a great time with family and friends. Candice and Kathy did such an AMAZING job. I am sooo blessed.

Yummy cake made by Kathy

My wonderful sister in law did a great job of getting food that fit into my GD diet. There snacks were great, the candy was sugar free. She is awesome.

The dirty diaper game

Allyson got a lot of cute clothes, fun toys and other baby items.
I really feel blessed.

Aubrey was so done taking pictures, she didn't want to smile any more

My glider and ottoman from Kathy

I spent today washing Ally's clothes and getting her room cleaned up and organized. Aubrey and I had so much fun putting the clothes in the drawers, hanging up the bigger sizes and Aubrey loved trying out Allyson's toys.
